How To Dry Brush Your Skin
Dry brushing is an age-old ayurvedic technique that stimulates the lymphatic system, eliminates toxins, and generally improves your skins texture. To see the most overall improvement, it is recommended that you start from the ends of your limbs and move inward, which does make sense once you start.
Especially in the winter, I'd recommend this before an event where you'll be showing off a little more skin than you typically would in your sweater and jeans uniform. I can't attest to any toxins being eliminated or whether my lymphatic system has been boosted, but I can definitely say that my skin looks wildly better when I do this.
I got my brush after a Glow Body Scrub at exhale spa pre-L.A. vacay. Their glow body scrub is a seriously indulgent treatment which starts off with being dry brushed, and is followed up with oil being applied to your skin, and lotion which melts it all away. If you don't have the time to do a routine like that every day, here's my faster alternative.
Standing in the shower, move your brush inward toward your heart starting with your arms and legs, and wrapping up with your stomach, chest, glutes, etc. Start your water and use a sugar scrub to exfoliate all over. You can't go wrong with Raw Sugar's Sugar Scrub, it's made with real sugar and plant-based oils. Plus, for every one of their products you purchase, a bar of soap is donated to a family in need. Don't waste your efforts with a body wash that will strip your skin of your newfound softness, and go with Raw Sugar's Bar Soap. Plain and simple. Finish up with a hydrating lotion or body butter like Glossier's Body Hero.
Voilà.
