Best Vegan Desserts In Los Angeles
last updated: July 2023
I’ve been living in Los Angeles for almost five years now. In that time, I’ve been able to try a LOT of vegan foods all around the city, including plenty of sweet treats and desserts. There are so many vegan options here, and plenty of places that are vegan-friendly, and I’m sharing my favorites today!
A larger post with more expansive food options is also live, but for now enjoy these vegan desserts in Los Angeles. Instead of going neighborhood by neighborhood, this is broken down into two sections - vegan and vegan-friendly
Vegan
AWAN: Served out of a tiny takeout window on the side of Dayglow Coffee in WeHo you’ll find delicious and unique flavors of delicious ice cream.
866 Huntley Drive
Chaumont Vegan: Probably the BEST vegan croissants I’ve ever had! Not as doughy as other spots (my preference), crunchy and flaky - and super buttery! 10/10 would recommend.
145 S Beverly Drive
Cinnaholic: The yummiest cinnamon rolls around! Pick your own toppings or go with one of their suggested combos, and try the edible cookie dough while you’re there!
2134 Sunset Blvd. Suite E
Creamo: An ice cream concept by Donut Friend, stop by for yummy shakes and the signature donuts.
3534 Sunset Blvd.
Dear Bella Creamery: After you grab dinner at Doomie’s, head next door to Dear Bella (formerly Cocobella) and enjoy some ice cream! I love their Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chubby Monkey.
1253 Vine St. #12
Donut Friend: There are no words for how good these donuts are. Try the Nutellavision, X-Ray Speculoos, and Angry Samoa. You won’t regret it!
Highland Park: 5107 York Blvd
DTLA: 543 S Broadway
Erin McKenna’s Bakery: Cupcakes, loaves, donuts, oh my! Find all of that and more at Erin McKenna’s.
Larchmont: 236 N Larchmont Blvd.
Santa Monica: 1415 Montana Ave.
Happy Ice: Growing up in Philadelphia, my family and I spent countless nights in the summer heading to Rita’s for water ice and gelati (water ice - pronounced wooder ice - with custard on the bottom and top), and it’s definitely one of the treats I missed about being vegan. Happy Ice recreates that in a vegan way (oat milk-based vegan soft serve) and I’m so happy they’re in L.A.
7324 Melrose Ave.
Just What I Kneaded: Their pop-tarts speak for themselves! Everything here is flaky, delicious, and adorable.
2029 Blake Ave. #104
Karma Baker: I love these gluten-free treats, especially the donuts! Ship nationwide, pickup in Westlake Village, or grab something at Erewhon or Lassens!
1145 Lindero Canyon Rd.
Pressed Juicery: Not only is Pressed my favorite spot for juices and wellness shots, but I’m obsessed with their Freeze! Definitely get granola butter on top.
Toluca Bakery and Cafe: This hole in the wall spot is the BEST! They have a variety of vegan pastries, cookies, and breads.
11365 Riverside Dr.
Yoga-urt: If you miss the taste of frozen yogurt, head here to satisfy your craving! They offer about 25 rotating flavors, but I almost always go for a swirl of chocolate and peanut butter. Major points for compostable paper goods and cutlery!
Vegan-Friendly
Cookie Dough Dreams: Eat this edible cookie dough straight from the cup or take it home to bake!
Burbank: 124 E Magnolia Ave.
Hollywood: 6801 Hollywood Blvd. #101
Fonuts: These baked donuts are entirely gluten-free, with vegan options available. Go early before they sell out!
WeHo: 8104 West 3rd St.
Studio City: 12065 Ventura Pl.
Insomnia Cookies: I used to love getting these cookies in high school, I’m so glad they have vegan options now!
WeHo: 8951 Santa Monica Blvd.
Kettle Glazed: Heading into Hollywood? Make a stop at Kettle Glazed for some seriously delicious and reasonably priced donuts.
6211 Franklin Ave.
Ladurée: I know what you’re thinking: Ladurée isn’t vegan! But you’re wrong! Matthew Kenney brought his vegan vision to their Beverly Hills location, so you can enjoy macarons, croissants, pastries, and more.
311 N Beverly Dr.
Levain Bakery: The popular New York City cookie spot is now in Los Angeles, and has a vegan/gluten-free version of their classic chocolate chip walnut cookie.
227 N Larchmont Blvd.
Magpies: Their soft serve flavors may change weekly here, but you can never go wrong with the Corn Almond!
Trejo’s Coffee & Donuts: Brought to you by Los Angeles native Danny Trejo, these are some absolutely DELICIOUS vegan donuts. Get there early to take your pick of a few flavors.
6785 Santa Monica Blvd.
Salt & Straw: Anyone will tell you that this is a must-visit, but if they don’t, you’ll be able to tell by the lines outside! They typically keep two vegan flavors on the menu plus a rotating seasonal flavor each month.
Van Leeuwen: They’ve expanded to offer so many vegan options in the past few years, and I absolutely love all of the innovations that they’re always rolling out. Definitely grab a chocolate chip cookie while you’re there!
Voodoo Doughnuts: Their apple fritter is worth a visit alone. They’re located inside CityWalk at Universal Studios, AKA the perfect post-theme park or post-movie theater treat.
100 Universal City Plaza
Wanderlust Creamery: Wanderlust specializes in artisanal ice cream inspired by travel. They have core vegan flavors including Passionfruit Cacao and Sticky Rice + Mango, plus rotating specials.
Bonus: Orange County
The Donuttery: The tastiest affordable donuts are available 24/7. Grab them before you head to the beach!
17420 Beach Blvd.
Huntington Beach, CA 92647
